Cairn Privacy Policy
Effective: August 23, 2026 · Last reviewed: August 23, 2026
This policy explains how Nintek (“we”, “us”) handles information in Cairn for iPhone and iPad. Cairn is a native Microsoft certification exam-prep app with bundled course and exam content.
The short version. Cairn has no account, no login, no developer-operated backend, no ads, no analytics SDK, and no cross-app tracking. The app does not send personal or usage data to Nintek. Study progress stays on your device and may sync through your private Apple iCloud database when iCloud is available.
Data Nintek collects
Cairn does not collect or transmit personal information, study activity, diagnostics, advertising identifiers, location, contacts, or other device data to Nintek. We do not use advertising, analytics, or tracking software.
If you email us for support, we receive the information you choose to put in that message and use it to respond. Support correspondence is separate from the app, and Cairn does not attach study data to it.
Data stored on your device
Cairn stores your study progress and app preferences locally using Apple’s SwiftData framework. Exam and course content is bundled with the app, so it can be read without an internet connection. Nintek does not receive a copy of your local study data.
Private iCloud sync
When you are signed in to iCloud and iCloud is available, Apple’s SwiftData and CloudKit services may sync your progress through the private database associated with your Apple Account. That sync is provided and controlled by Apple. Nintek does not operate a progress server and does not receive or store the synced data on a server we operate. If iCloud is unavailable, Cairn can continue using its local store.
Proposed App Store purchase
The current build contains StoreKit support for one proposed non-consumable purchase called Full Exam Library, priced at $14.99 in the United States submission. The app version was rejected, the combined submission remains unresolved, and the purchase is still in review, so there is no public listing or public purchase availability. If Apple approves a later submission, the App Store will process payment details, refunds, Family Sharing eligibility, and restores. Nintekdoes not receive payment-card details.
Notifications, widgets, Live Activities, and App Intents
If you enable a daily study reminder, the notification is scheduled locally by your device. Cairn also makes limited on-device status available to its own widget and Live Activity, and provides App Intents for Apple system features such as Siri and Shortcuts. These features use Apple’s system frameworks; they do not send study data to aNintek-operated notification or analytics server. You can control notifications, widgets, Live Activities, and Siri or Shortcuts access in Apple’s device settings and system interfaces.
Third-party services
Cairn contains no third-party advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs. The external services it relies on are Apple system services: iCloud and CloudKit for optional private sync, the App Store and StoreKit for purchases, and the operating-system services that provide notifications, widgets, Live Activities, Siri, and Shortcuts. Apple may process information needed to provide those services under Apple’s own terms and privacy policy.
Retention and deletion
Local study data remains on a device until you change it or deleteCairn. Deleting the app removes its local app data from that device. If iCloud sync was used, a synced copy may remain in your Apple Account until you remove Cairn’s iCloud data through Apple’s device settings, where applicable. Apple controls retention of App Store purchase records and entitlements.
Because Nintek has no Cairn account or progress server, there is no account or server-side study history for us to delete.
| Data or control | Where it lives | Export or backup | Deletion and retention |
|---|---|---|---|
| Study progress and preferences | SwiftData on the iPhone or iPad. | Cairn has no current full progress-export feature. Exam and course content is bundled with the app. | Deleting Cairn removes local app data from that device. A game-style reset is not an account deletion because Cairn has no account. |
| Private iCloud progress copy | The private CloudKit database associated with the Apple Account on the device. | Apple controls iCloud account and device sync. Nintek has no server copy to export. | Use Apple’s iCloud controls for Apple-held data. Deleting the app from one device does not itself promise removal of the private iCloud copy. |
| Proposed Full Exam Library purchase | Apple controls App Store transaction and entitlement records. The submitted purchase remains unresolved and is not publicly available. | Apple provides purchase-history, restore, refund, and account controls. | Deleting Cairn does not delete Apple purchase records or the Apple Account. Nintek does not receive payment-card details. |
| Support correspondence | Nintek’s mailbox only when you choose to contact support. | You control the message you send and can request review of correspondence Nintek still holds. | Nintek may retain correspondence as needed to answer, secure, document, or meet legal obligations. |
